Cuir de Russie
Eau de Cuir de Russie (Russian Leather): The odour of leather has interested perfumers for a long time because of its richness and fullness. There is a certain sensual pleasure inhaling the odour of a new leather object. Russian leather, known as safian, was used for Diaghilev's Russian ballet troupe's shoes and also for bookbinding. Between 1905 and 1935 there were many different interpretations of this fragrance by various creators. Yuri Gutsatz's 'Cuir de Russie' is a brand new take on this classic fragrance. While it still follows the strict traditions of French perfume-making, its originality stems from the various flowery and green notes, diffused and long-lasting, giving richness and warmth.
