SABATIER KNIVES

Genuine Sabatier knives are made in France, in the town of Thiers, where several families share the rights to the brand name. All these reputable companies make the traditional, fully forged knife with its distinctive riveted handle, but as none of them had taken the trouble to protect the brand outside France, cheap and inferior products were soon being made in places such as Hong Kong, Portugal and even Sheffield. The genuine article can be expensive, whereas the cheap copies mostly bear little resemblance to the real thing. The André Verdier family firm who have made knives since 1859 is one of the original makers of Sabatier. Their fully forged knives have distinctive brass rivets and are available exclusively from The French House.
