Old School Lamps

Watching the French film Les Choristes, or The Choir, gave us the idea that we had to offer the type of lamp seen in the school building in many of the scenes of this excellent movie. We sometimes come across stacks of rusty ones in old barns in France, but have found more up-to-date versions for you from an artisan producer. You can go for classic black model, or for more contemporary interiors try blue grey, mint green, buttermilk or rusty red. We have asked the producer to fit black twisted flex to these classic lamps, and use brass or nickel grommets as a feature. All of these lamps are made exclusively for The French House.

Our suspended lights come with a ceiling rose, which requires a ceiling hook to fix it. Unfortunately we can't supply these hooks as different hooks are needed for different types of ceiling and we would risk sending you an unsuitable one. Please ensure your electrician is aware of this and comes prepared with the correct hook.

All our lights take screw-in E27 fittings. These can be fitted with a clever, very cheap and readily available ES E27 fitting that screws into the standard bulb holder, allowing the use of G9 halogen bulb, which are fully dim-able and require no warm-up time.
